Speaking and Listening Presentations

 Dear Parents,

Next week, your child will be asked to present a 2 - 3 minute speech all about themselves and what makes them special, as part of our Speaking and Listening program. Our class presentations will start on the 3rd of March.

We will be assessing them on their volume, speed, voice, body language, eye contact and their content. We have sent home an "All About Me" sheet for the students to complete before their presentation.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Welcome Back!

Wishing you all a warm welcome back to the new school year. We have enjoyed a wonderful 2 weeks together in Room 20 and it has been lovely to see how well-prepared and excited the students are for Year 3. We have spent these first few weeks sharing news, setting goals, gaining inspiration and discussing how to succeed in 2021! The students are feeling motivated to do their best and they are already producing an excellent standard of work. I am looking forward to seeing them thrive and grow within our engaging and fun classroom environment.

Please remember that this blog will be updated regularly and serves to provide information and feedback on upcoming or past events. Photos of special occasions, interactive lessons, awards and more will be posted throughout the year.

Homework will be uploaded every Friday and due the following Monday. This enables students to start over the weekend and plan accordingly. It is important that students develop the necessary time management skills to ensure they practise throughout the week and don't leave everything to the night before This will be discussed further at the Parent Information Evening which is on Tuesday 23 February at 6:15 - 7pm. I encourage you all to attend this important evening as it is a good opportunity to ask any questions.

Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school every day. It is very hot in the summer months and it is necessary that students stay well-hydrated throughout the school day.

Library is on Thursdays. Please encourage your child to choose books which are suited to their reading ability. It is also a wonderful opportunity to use these books for shared reading experiences at home. Encourage your child to read aloud with expression and discuss any new and challenging vocabulary with them. Please return all books, in their library bag, to school every Thursday.

Please ensure that your child has an Art apron/shirt at school. This is to be kept in the classroom at all times to avoid any messy accidents on school uniforms.

Should you wish to discuss anything further, please do not hesitate to schedule a meeting with me. I look forward to working closely with you and your children to ensure a happy and successful year.
